Uskumru

WHAT: Traditional Fish Restaurant

Some places are worth going to for other reasons than their menu... and in Uskumru's case this would be its location. Almost directly under the second Bosphorus bridge, the restaurant is poised on the edge of the channel offering phenomenal views of the Bosphorus and the european sky-line; especially at sunset when the sun strategically sets right across from your location, completing the picturesque scenery. The restaurant itself is not such a feast to the eyes so in warm weather I would recommend reserving early to be seated on the wooden deck out front right above the water so that you are first in line to the view! Although the view does take most of the acclaim it would be wrong to belittle the food as the restaurant has merit here too and offers good mezes and very tasty seafood dishes in general!

OCCASION: Lunch or dinner, private or business.

ENVIRONMENT: The restaurant is very large but smartly distributed into different areas and levels so that it's not overwhelming. In the summer however, sitting indoors would be a sad affair here so make very sure you are either on or close to the deck; if not no amount of good food will suffice to cheer you up!

AMBIANCE: All kinds of people are there for different occasions and mainly to enjoy a long meal.

STYLE: No special requisites; casual-dressy in general.

LOCATION: Anadolu Hisarı, Istanbul
